With the increasing popularity of the CJWU , the recruitment committee have compiled a Q&A to assist in future members making the positive choice to join this rapidly growing union.

Q1. Why would I join the CJWU when other union's are already available?

A. The CJWU is unique in that it is the only union that's focuses solely on the member, with an executive committee consisting of all frontline operational staff. There are no careers or power struggles which means that the only important factor is the member.

Q2. How can you only charge £7.50 when other union's charge double that?

A. While all other union's pay their executives extortionate salaries, no member of the CJWU executive receives payment. Our expenses are kept to a bare minimum and, we use technology to deal with meetings and everyday activities which negates the need for expensive hotels and subsistence.

Q3. What is your representative network?

A. We have a growing number of local reps in workplaces throughout the country at your disposal. In areas where local committees have yet to be established, the Executive Committee will be on hand to assist you.

Q4. Legal cover is an important factor for members. How confident can I be in your legal providers?

A. We have secured one of the country's leading legal firms that deal with trade unions. Stephensons of Manchester are renowned experts in representing staff within the Justice system and have achieved 5 star status in their field. To secure the services of such a formidable firm is a major success for the CJWU.

Q5. Do I get a union badge?

A. Yes, all members will receive a union badge.

Q6. Do I get a union diary?

A. Yes, all members will receive a union diary. (Starting 2021)

Q7. Are you recognised by my employer?

A. We are an official recognised trade union which entitles us to represent our members in the workplace on a wide range of issues. It is true that we are not as yet fully recognised by some employers in respect of collective bargaining however, this will only be a matter of time as the size of our union continues to grow, and we are in the process of seeking recognition with the various employers our members work for.

Q8. £7.50 is cheap, no doubt you will increase this rate?

A. Absolutely not. As stated previously, your subs do not go to fund lavish lifestyles, salaries etc and, with our modern approach to doing the business of the union, we have no intention of increasing this rate.

Q9. What if I need assistance but as yet my place of work does not have a committee set up?

A. Although our local committee structure is growing, in cases whereby no committee exists, members can contact any one of the executive who will be in hand to assist you.

Q10. How confident are you of success?

A. Our success grows daily. We have successfully assembled an impressive executive committee consisting of dedicated, knowledgeable, skilful committed individuals to serve you. We have attained trade union recognition and, secured one of the top legal firms in the country.
There is still a way to go and, with membership increasing daily, our success will also continue to increase.
