Public sectors prion staff must again wait for their annual pay award.
The Criminal Justice Workers Union (CJWUnion) condemns this Government for keeping thousands of public sector workers waiting for their annual increase which should have been received in April’s pay packet amidst a cost of living crisis and unprecedented inflation rates post covid.
This is forcing hard working public sector servants into hardship and exacerbating the issue of staff leaving in their droves due to overcrowded, overspilling prison populations that fester violence and illegal drug use to perilous levels.
The pay simply does not attract staff to remain in service or treat the job as a long-term profession.
The CJWUnion has raised this issue as part of its submission to the Prison Service Pay Review body, we await their response in their report to the Government.
