Following the Government decision to accept all the recommendation of the Prison Service Pay Review Body report 2023, we have had confirmation pay uplifts for will be made in September 2023 pay, backdated to April 2023.
The key elements of the report are –
Band 2 – a £2,000 increase to the base pay point, with Operational Support Grades (OSGs) getting a total pay rise of £2,400 due to their unsocial hours allowance also increasing by £400. The increase for all Band 2s equates to 10.3%.Bands 3 to 5 – a 7% increase to all pay points. Eligible Band 3 and 5 staff below their pay band maxima will progress up the pay band by one pay point.
London – the Inner and Outer London pay differentials will be increased by 7%.
Staff not covered by the Prison service pay review body–
These pay awards apply to all staff in the relevant grades, regardless of their work role and location (for example, the Band 5 award applies to any Band 5, whether prison-based, HQ-based, operational or non-operational.
Pay awards for those staff in grades for whom the PSPRB do not make recommendations (such as Band 6 or others who are both not in F&S and for whom there are non-operational F&S equivalents) will be determined through collective bargaining with the relevant recognised trade unions and announced separately.
The Probation Service has entered the second year of its multi-year pay deal. Initial increases to salary were made in April and a further increase will be paid in October.
